Project Title: The Psychology of Expertise in Early Stoicism

I am a Research Fellow (SNSF Ambizione, 2022-2026) at the University of Geneva’s Department of Philosophy. My main field of study is ancient philosophy, with a focus on Hellenistic epistemology and ethics. I previously worked at the University of Hamburg, the University of Geneva, and the University of Toronto.

My current research concerns the ways in which post-Aristotelian thinkers developed and defended their accounts of expertise (technê). During my stay at Notre Dame, I will be working on a paper examining the manner in which early Stoics distinguished ordinary forms of expertise and the virtues in terms of the underlying psychological states. I will investigate how the distinction appears in different parts of Stoic philosophical discourse, especially ethics and dialectic, as well as the way in which expertise affects the content of the domain-specific impressions.
