Giulia De Cesaris

Giulia De Cesaris (FWO/KU Leuven) will be visiting the Forum in Spring 2023 to work on a project entitled "A Platonic Hylomorphic Model for Living Beings? The Epinomis and the Alliance(s) of Body and Soul." While the history of the reception of Aristotle’s thought marked medieval and modern investigations of hylomorphism, the Platonic tradition is generally considered the landmark for a different and opposing view, namely dualism. In this project, she aims to examine a fascinating exception to this trend: an instance of Platonic hylomorphism advanced by the author of the 'Epinomis' at the very outset of the Platonic tradition.
