Prof. Gretchen Reydams-Schils (Program of Liberal Studies, concurrent in Classics, Philosophy, and Theology) was recently featured on an episode of The Secret History of Western Esotericism Podcast to discuss the late-antique philosopher Calcidius, whose partial Latin translation of and commentary on Plato's Timaeus proved deeply influential across subsequent centuries.

Prof. Reydams-Schils' recently published Calcidius on Plato's Timaeus: Greek Philosophy, Latin Reception, and Christian Contexts is the first book-length study on the entirety of Calcidius' commentary on the Timaeus. She is director of theĀ Workshop on Ancient Philosophy and serves on the faculty steering committee of the History of Philosophy Forum at Notre Dame.
